Key Features of Weglot

Click below to discover key feature of Weglot, and how it can help improve your sites reach.

Translation List

Each Weglot plan includes a fixed number of languages that can be activated for translation on your website. The Translations List accessible from the Dashboard allows you to add languages. You are able to add any of the out-of-the-box translations, or a custom language.

How to add new languages

A custom language might be useful if you have a large population of Spanish speakers from a certain region (e.g., Latin American Spanish vs Spain-Spanish). In this case, you can start with Spanish as the “base language,” and then upload (or manually) add terms or phrases that should be translated differently.

Visual Editor

Weglot’s visual editor allows admins to easily navigate to website pages to create manual translations that will override any automatic translations. This is a great solution if your district is required to manually review content: you can fully rewrite an entire page, a news post, or just make small corrections. In addition to making corrections, you can also swap out translated versions of images.

Glossary

Weglot allows admins to create a “glossary” of terms to translate (or not translate) in a specific way. For example, if a school name or other common school terms are being translated, but should never be, those are simply added to the glossary once, and your rule will be honored every time the term or phrase is used on your website.

Statistics

Translation Requests: This page will show you the number of translation requests by language, and by page. This gives you feedback on how frequently your different language options are used, as well as which pages are most frequently visited by users requiring translation.

Page views: Weglot provides an overview of all browser languages visitors to the website have set. While your school or district has likely collected preferred language from parents, this feature can give you greater insight into all potential languages website visitors are using. If visitors are coming to your website seeking languages you do not currently support, you can consider whether it makes sense to add support for new languages.
